Um... You ARE aware that Tim Minchin is making fun of canvas bags, aren't you? His style of comedy (and he is a comedian) is a very bitter and sarcastic style. His intent in making the "canvas bags" song is to point out the absurdity of the idea that such tiny little things as using canvas instead of plastic are going to save the world. These are not "drastic" solutions; they are good steps forward, sure, but they don't adress the most serious and grevious environmental probelms we face. In the long run, they wouldn't have nearly as much of an impact as more drastic measures would. Things like dramitically increasing emitions and other regulations on corporations, eliminating gas cars, etc.
I do think it's a fantastic environmental anthem, but not because I think canvas bags are the greatest thing ever.
